jayson Musson and ft. worth trip

Was glad to have the company of Stacie, Val, Spencer, Toni to view the Diebenkorn, TCU gallery, and see Jayson Musson talk about his work. please check him out as he addresses the dilemma of dealing with grad school for an artist that does not fit the mold which is most of us.     I have to say that being at the Jayson Musson talk really augmented my appreciation for "Art Thoughtz" and Hennesy Youngman.

    Hearing where Musson came from as a photography undergrad and his struggle to be validated by graduate faculty, coupled with his amazingly hilarious text pieces, makes the "Hennesy Youngman" rants all the more amusing.

    there will be a podcast from the Modern in two weeks so you can see the whole presentation. but will not be the same as much had to do with his presence and atmosphere (as always) but will get the idea. his Obama as super hero was an exemplary series which spoke to a kind of superman idiom of mild clark kent then superman but without a transformation. how we take a president and our child like wonder puts them into a role of unparreleled hope of/for salvation but in reality its the rhetoric vs. the cogs of the machinery. i think they more truly represent how naive so much of the electorate is and how
    base the propaganda for candidates is in its pandering. a satirical critique but fun and right on.
